News Update to the forum/domain
#1
Information
You've obviously noticed that I moved the forum from the main domain address to the sub-folder /talk.  I did this in the hopes of reducing the amount of spam and bot activity that's been hitting the site recently.  From first glance, the strategy has seemed to have worked... at least until "they" find us again.

Apart from the move, everything else should have stayed the same, but this was a task that was all new to me.  So, if you notice something not where it should be, let me know in a PM or by posting below.

Except for the bot and spam activity, the forum has been very quiet.... so there's a chance that nobody in the group will notice the move anyway.   Tongue

Now the bots are going to merge with AI to pretend they're active users.
But then they'll be confused when the talk sub folder is removed again Wink
Very much liking the Christmas banner BTW !

I'm glad to see this actually.  It was getting tired of seeing "current users" as Facebook, Google, etc.  A better technique is to randomly change the extension every day.  I recommend using SHA256:

The SHA256 hash is simply the hash of the name of the game we have in a new forum, "Game of the Day".  If everyone keeps quiet about the technique, we should be safer than Tor. Tongue

Interesting idea. And yes, I rather like the idea of not having the forum sitting at point-blank range of the bots and crawlers. We may not rank as high on Google or Bing, but I'm perfectly fine with that.

Until now it doesn't make a difference we're still at third or second place on the search engines.

The maximum server load limit has been reached. Please check back later once the server is less busy.

Hope these will soon be fixed..
